In the late 17th century, a French inventor named Denis Papin developed one of the earliest concepts of the steam engine.
He sent proposals and letters to French authorities, hoping his invention would receive support.
It didn’t.
The idea was dismissed as impractical and too risky. No serious backing came from the French royal court.
Papin eventually left France. He died in poverty, while his ideas were left behind.
Decades later, those same ideas were adopted and improved in England by inventors like Thomas Newcomen and James Watt.
The result was the Industrial Revolution.
One rejected idea didn’t stop progress.
It simply moved to another country.
