I'm well aware of plenty of heavy hitters in VGM that I have yet to get to, and trust me I will. Super Mario Galaxy, and this song in particular, is one of the finest examples of why Video Game Music has always been more than just bleeps and bloops, it's been an art form that can stick with a person for their entire life. But I digress; this song is just awesome.
Playing in the early stage 'Gusty Garden Galaxy' (which the song is commonly known as) "Wind Garden" is the official title of the song as seen on the soundtrack. It was also used heavily in the marketing for the game, and with good reason. Composed by Mahito Yokota with guidance from VGM composing legend Koji Kondo, Super Mario Galaxy stands as possibly the finest orchestral soundtrack ever compiled by Nintendo, and maybe their finest soundtrack as a whole, bringing with it the intricacy and power of a 50-person orchestra.
Mahito Yokota was responsible for composing various game sin the 2000's including Kessen 1 and 2, Crimson Sea, Dynasty Warriors 4, Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat, as well as contributing to The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. His work reappears in Super Mario Galaxy 2, to which he also contributed new music.
Koji Kondo's work and influence has appeared various times in previous episodes, and will continue to do so as long as I do all this. It seems that he doesn't have his own website or social media outlets, however a quick google search will give you all you want to know—and especially hear—from him.

The soundtrack to Super Mario Galaxy has come in numerous packages, including a copy exclusive to Japanese and European Club Nintendo members. Physical discs of the soundtrack have been released, though the full, two-disc bundle linked to above is hard to come by. However, a single-disc version, featuring most of the 'best' songs in the game are much more common:

This version of the soundtrack also comes bundled with the latest packages of Wii consoles, which also include the game New Super Mario Bros Wii. No digital version seems available. As for the game, it's VERY easy to come across, and now comes at a discounted price as part of the "Nintendo Selects" program.
