Unwanted bounces in the bow are one of the most common problems string players face
These often occurs when approaching the string and the cause is usually because the weight of the bow is not being controlled. In the same way that a ball will bounce if you just drop it, the bow will also bounce on its own momentum if you drop it onto the string without controlling its weight
To fix this, Dounis had his students do exercises to control the weight of the bow as it approached the string, and in this video I demonstrate a few of these exercises. Getting better at approaching the string will not only get rid of unwanted bounces but it will also improve your bow control in general
