Darius II (Arcade) - ALL Clear 2.97 Million

Darius II is the sequel to Darius, which came out 3 years later in 1989. This game uses two screens instead of three. It's still very wide but not as crazy as Darius 1 was.

One of the main complaints about Darius 1 was that the game was too easy, so for the sequel they decided to go balls to the walls with the difficulty. Because of this Darius II is the hardest game in the Darius series alongside with G-Darius. Thankfully you can make the game a lot easier with proper pointblanking strats and boss manipulation.

One of the reasons this game is so hard is because it's also a one-life game. You spent the entire game powering up your weapons and a single death makes you lose everything. Unless you die very early or very late into the game, it's pretty much an instant game over.

One of the quirks of the shield in this game is that the shields stack if you didn't take a hit. It's pretty important to accumate shield hits since your shield is pretty much your lives in this game.

This game has nuclear bombs strewn about in the stages. If you shoot these when they open, you'll get a big explosion that destroys everything on screen, even bosses.

You really want to quickly pointblank and speedkill midbosses since they stick around for a really long time.

You want to destroy the leg of Red Crab when he's in the air. This way you'll have time to pointblank him to death before he fires anything.

I got quite lucky on Yamato. It's random what attacks he does and some of them are quite annoying. He only moved left and right this run, not doing anything.

Grand Octopus is one of the most threatening bosses in the game. Thankfully you can make him a lot easier by going behind the boss and destroying the tentacles with your lasers. For the second phase you want to misdirect the enemies he spawns to the ceiling so that they quickly leave and don't get in your way.

Missed the last shield item at the start of the final stage, which was kinda annoying. I died at the end but that wasn't all that bad because it made the rank really low on the boss. It usually has way scarier patterns.

There is a different ending for all the different final stages.
