S&W M&P10 Review- Nutnfancy

Описание: Smith and Wesson often gets it right. Their M&P10 is a case study on how to put together a near perfect, with current technology, .308 carbine/rifle. Weighing just 8 lbs naked, with magazine, the M&P10 feels like a lightweight AR-15. And yet it is chambered in hard hitting, obstacle defeating .308 caliber. It will shred 5.56mm gun in both range and knock down power. Don't be fooled by the skinny barrel like I was either. It rapidly tapers up in thickness after the gas block. Featuring 5R rifling, this melonite coated barrel showed amazing 1/2 MOA accuracy with 168 gr BTHP loads [less so with 150gr]...both in real world desert and range shooting. The proprietary muzzle brake/comp is excellent and I would not replace it. The barrel length on the M&P, this version, is a perfect 18"...not too long, not too short. I steer clear of most 16" barreled .308s and do not recommend them for reasons noted. In 707 yard no-cool-down shooting it was consistent and accurate, surprising all who shot it. The M&P10 accuracy classifies it as a SAPR (discussed).

Contributing to this accuracy is a decent trigger, probably the best of the standard AR types in the industry (a S&W hallmark). I would hesitate on replacing this as well. Reliability was 100% with all loads, about 500 rounds shots for this review. As shown in the video, you will need to fit an adjustable gas block on the M&P10 if shooting a suppressor...it was not reliable without it (using Gemtech HVT). Ergos are standard AR-15 variety and a DPMS/AR10 rail can be fitted as can AR-15 furniture. The gun shoots soft and controlled, one the best tested in this .308 caliber yet. The mid-length plus 1" system helps and is a smart choice. S&W wisely avoids a standard FSB and fits on a low profile Picatinny gas block, another win. The gun accepts DPMS/AR-10 mags providing standard AR-10 firepower. Value is excellent for the quality, reliability, warranty, durability, lightweight, and supreme accuracy delivered. Truly one of the best .308 battle rifles/AR10s made currently at this price point.//////////////////////////Nutnfancy Likability Scale: 10 out of 10
