Recent trends in politics suggest the conversative ideology is fragmenting

Описание: Dutch elections happened late 2025 and the results were very telling about the state of not just the Netherlands but also broader trends in western society.

And these trends are that right-wing politics is fragmenting.

Media reported that the far-right was defeated because the anti-immigration, anti-Islamic party PVV lost a significant amount of seats in Parliament and the liberal centrist party D66 gained a significant amount and won the most seats of any part in Parliament.

A lot of people have been pointing out that it’s technically not true that the far-right “lost” this election because a lot of votes went to other far-right parties, some with even more extreme views compared with the PVV, and that the total amount of seats won by the far right this election are pretty comparable with the previous election, they’re just spread out with several far-right parties instead of with one.

This suggests that that right-wing politics is starting to fragment. We can also see it among conservative beliefs across the western world. There’s Republicans voting to impeach Trump, conservatives can no longer agree on how to approach Israel.
