Описание: US President Joe Biden has been slammed online after retracting his statement about Laken Riley's alleged killer being an "illegal alien".

Biden apologised during an MSNBC interview in Atlanta on Saturday, stating that he should have used the term "undocumented" instead.

During his State of the Union Address on Friday, Biden mentioned Laken Riley's death but mispronounced her name, calling her "Lincoln Riley".

He then referred to her as “an innocent young woman who was killed by an illegal – that’s right, But how many of thousands of people are being killed by legals?".

Former President Donald Trump spoke out at a rally later Saturday evening in Georgia, vowing to seek "justice" for Laken Riley.

He blamed Biden for the death of Laken Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student who was killed while jogging at the University of Georgia.

The suspect, Jose Ibarra from Venezuela, is allegedly an undocumented immigrant and has been charged with felony murder.

"Biden has implemented a formal policy that illegal aliens who intrude into the United States are granted immunity from deportation," Trump said.

"That’s when this monster showed up at our border. He was set free immediately under the program that crooked Joe created — I call it free to kill, it’s free to kill.”

Before his speech, Trump met with and embraced some of Laken Riley's relatives, and images of her were distributed to the crowd by the Trump campaign.
