Do you remember the Three Stooges Superhero Cartoon the Robonic Stooges? It featured Moe, Larry, and Curly as robotic superheroes that could stretch their limbs and pull out various gadgets. It ran first as a segment of the Skatebirds and then got its own timeslot for a short time in the 70's on Saturday mornings. The original Three Stooges Moe Howard, Curly Howard, and Larry Fine had passed away by the time the Robonic Stooges aired on Saturday mornings in 1977 to 1978. So, voice actors Paul Winchell, Joe Baker, and Frank Welker were called upon to recreate the Stooge characters.
Winchell was famous for his work as a ventriloquist and had starred in a Three Stooges compilation movie called, "Stop! Look! and Laugh! which the Stooges had not originally authorized, but got on board once they were offered part of the profits. Frank Welker is widely known as the voice of Fred Jones and Scooby Doo. Before this part he had done another character who sounded just like Curly. He was the voice of Jabberjaw who often did the "Woo, Woo, Woo" sound that Curly is known for.
The Robonic Stooges didn't have the same level of violent slaps and head bops due to restrictions placed on most 70's Saturday morning cartoons, but it was filled with plenty of high energy antics that the Three Stooges were known for.
