Did you know the Soviet Union once established a secret military school in Tashkent specifically to train an army for India's liberation? Or that the Communist Party of India (CPI) was often paralyzed by a "schizophrenic mandate" from Moscow?
In this video, we dive deep into the early, turbulent years of Indian Communism (1920–1921). We explore the ambitious but short-lived "Indusky Kurs" (Military School at Tashkent), the rise of M.N. Roy, and the structural subservience of the CPI to the Comintern. We also decode the famous ideological clash between Vladimir Lenin and M.N. Roy regarding Gandhi and the Indian National Congress—a debate that shaped the course of the freedom struggle.

IN-DEPTH ANALYSIS & NOTES
1. The Indusky Kurs (Tashkent Military School) Established to operationalize the revolution, this school aimed to train Muslim Muhajirs in guerrilla warfare and political ideology. M.N. Roy envisioned an army marching through the North-West Frontier. However, the school became a victim of Soviet Pragmatism. When the Bolsheviks needed to secure their state survival, they signed the Anglo-Soviet Trade Agreement in March 1921, effectively trading the Indian revolution for diplomatic stability with the British Empire.
2. The "Colonial Thesis" Debate The ideological confusion of the CPI stems from the Second Congress of the Comintern (1920).
Lenin’s View: In colonies, nationalists like Gandhi are strategic allies against Imperialism.
M.N. Roy’s View: Nationalists will eventually compromise with Imperialists to crush the workers; they must be opposed.
The Outcome: The Comintern adopted both views. This contradictory instruction meant Indian Communists were told to support the Congress while simultaneously undermining it, leading to strategic paralysis during critical movements like Civil Disobedience.
