Описание: ദീര്‍ഘകാലം ആയി കേരളം കാണുന്ന ഒരു സ്വപ്നം ആണ് ശബരി പാതയുടെ പൂര്‍ത്തീകരണം. രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ എല്ലാ ഭാഗത്തുമുള്ള അയ്യപ്പ ഭക്തര്‍ക്ക് ശബരിമലയിലേക്ക് ഉള്ള യാത്രയ്ക്കും, അതിലുപരി നാടിന്റെ വികസനത്തിനും പ്രയോജന പെടുന്നതാവും ശബരി റെയില്‍പ്പാത. ശബരിമലയുടെ കവാടമായ എരുമേലിയിലേക്ക് റെയില്‍പ്പാത എന്ന സ്വപ്നം യാഥാര്‍ത്ഥ്യം ആയാല്‍ എറണാകുളം, കോട്ടയം, ഇടുക്കി ജില്ലകളുടെ മലയോര മേഖലയുടെ വികസനത്തിന് കുതിപ്പേകുന്നത് ആണത്. വര്‍ഷങ്ങളായി മരവിച്ചു കിടക്കുന്ന ശബരി റെയില്‍പ്പാത നിര്‍മ്മാണത്തിന് സംസ്ഥാനം ഉപാധികളില്ലാതെ പകുതി ചെലവ് പങ്കിടാന്‍ ആലോചിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. സ്വന്തം ചെലവില്‍ കേരളം ഭൂമി ഏറ്റെടുത്താല്‍ 111 കിലോമീറ്റര്‍ പാത നിര്‍മ്മിക്കാം എന്നാണ് കേന്ദ്രം നല്‍കി ഇരിക്കുന്ന ഉറപ്പ്. ആകെ വേണ്ട 3800 കോടിയില്‍ കേരളം 1900 കോടി ചെലവഴിക്കണം.

The Sabarimala railway line is one of Kerala’s most awaited infrastructure projects, promising huge benefits for Ayyappa devotees and the overall economic development of the state. Connecting Erumeli — the gateway to Sabarimala — with the rest of Kerala and beyond, this 111 km railway line will boost connectivity across Ernakulam, Kottayam, and Idukki districts.

Originally announced in the 1997-98 Railway Budget, the project has faced decades of delays due to funding disputes and land acquisition issues. Now, with the Kerala government considering sharing half the cost — around ₹1900 crore of the ₹3800 crore total — and the Central government assuring construction if land is acquired, the dream could finally become a reality.
