The Lady Is Willing is a 1942 American screwball romantic comedy directed by Mitchell Leisen and starring Marlene Dietrich (as Elizabeth “Liza” Madden), Fred MacMurray (as Dr. Corey T. McBain), Aline MacMahon, Stanley Ridges, Arline Judge, and Roger Clark. In the film, Liza Madden, a free‑spirited Broadway actress, finds an abandoned baby and impulsively decides she wants to adopt it. To make adoption legally possible, she convinces pediatrician Dr. McBain to enter a marriage of convenience with her — he gets help with his research and she gets a husband. As the mismatched couple navigate the chaos of childcare, misunderstandings, and quirky supporting characters, genuine affection and romance begin to grow between them.
