Moorish Science - Sunni Muslim Discussion (Feat: ADNAN RASHID)

For the first time ever, I will have a full-on conversation with a member of the Moorish Science Temple of America, which is a black American pseudo-Islamic movement that was started by Noble Drew Ali in the 1910s. It was the predecessor to the well-known "Nation of Islam" which began in the U.S. with Master Fard Muhammad in the 1930s and then continued under the leadership of Elijah Muhammad. The Moorish Science Temple (MST), like the Nation of Islam, has many unIslamic beliefs which make it difficult to square with mainstream or Sunni Islam. Br. Rami El-Salaam, my conversation partner from the MST , will explain in what way he is already inclined towards normative universal Islam and willing to learn and grow further in his knowledge of al-Islam as practiced by the world's 1.5 billion Muslims. In a spirit of friendship and human brotherhood, we will converse and try to identify what we have in common, what we differ on, and how we might be able to bridge some of those gaps and help to facilitate a better understanding of the Qur'an and Sunnah for our friends in the Moorish Science Temple organization.
