Video Description
~~~~~~
If you recently picked up a phone in the Pixel 10 series, you are probably not going to be happy to learn that some of your RAM is not accessible by default.
The company has set aside about 3.5GB of RAM for all variants in the series, and this is to be used specifically by AI. . .nothing else.
Meaning, the apps and games you have on the device will not be able to use all of your RAM
At least not by default.
But I can show you a few ways you can reclaim that RAM right now.
Disabling AICore
As I mentioned, there are a few ways the AICore application can be disabled.
And the easiest method is to first pull up the Settings application
Then dive into the Apps section
From here, you can search for the word AICore - all one word
If you can't find it, it may be hidden within the System Apps section
But you can show those by tapping on this option here.
When you've found the AICore application, go ahead and tap on it
And right up here at the top, you will see a Disable button
A quick tap here, and another tap to confirm
That's all there is to it. Go ahead and reboot your phone and that extra RAM will be accessible with all of your apps and games.
You can also disable AICore with the popular ADB Shell PM uninstall command if you wanted.
Or you can use the Canta Shizuku combination to uninstall it as well.
All three methods though, will result in the same thing happening.
AICore will be disabled on your phone and you'll have access to all of the RAM inside your device.
conclusion
Google introduced the AICore application as a way for Android smartphones to run AI models locally on their phone.
But the company noticed that these responses were slow in certain situations.
And to combat that, they chose to dedicate a certain amount of RAM to the AICore app
Thankfully, once that app is no longer accessible, you regain access to all of that RAM
And you should see less apps and services killed in the background as a result.
