In the harsh and lawless badlands of Northeastern Brazil, a ruthless bandit leader named Galdino (known as "Capitão") strikes fear into the hearts of the local population. Leading his armed gang of "cangaceiros," he terrorizes poor villages, looting and killing without mercy to maintain his brutal grip on the region.
The gang's dynamic changes drastically when they kidnap a beautiful schoolteacher for ransom. Teodoro, the leader's right-hand man, falls in love with the captive and begins to question the savagery of his companions. This forbidden attraction creates a deadly rift within the group, leading to a violent showdown between loyalty and love under the scorching sun.
