Biomechanical engineers view injuries as physical evidence, where each injury occurs as a result of being exposed to a specific combination of energy, force, motion/deflection, and/or acceleration. The injuries are evaluated with known injury research and categorized with a specific type, location, mechanism, and injury threshold. This injury evidence is then reconciled with the other available physical evidence.
In this video, Dr. Amber Rath Stern, ESi’s Director of Biomechanics, shares a recent case involving a severe eye injury and associated animations that assist with explaining the relevant injury mechanisms.
