Micro climate for Miltoniopsis and Nelly Isler Orchids

Описание: Miltoniopsis and Nelly Islers are those orchids which I love but I cannot keep them happy for the life of me. They like humidity and cool to temperate environments. However they are not impossible!

So what I did was to buy a mini greenhouse that I found in a local home improvement store. Though these greenhouses are reacted to keep in warmth, I want them to maintain lower temperatures. To help me in this matter I use ceramic pots that cool down the air around them through evaporative cooling.

I also use inorganic medium as it doesn't break down and affect roots. I don't have to disturbed the orchids once established with regular repottings either. Overall they do help with keeping the temperatures low as well.

For now I use a humidifier, but it remains to be seen if it will be needed once I have more clay pots inside. I also use a fan to create ventilation and introduce fresh air inside. For now I chose to place it at the bottom, but I might change it in the future.

Inside the greenhouse I also placed some sick orchids which will benefit from the extra humidity. I keep this greenhouse in a bright location, but no direct sun at all for most of the day, just a bit late in the afternoon. If sun hits it it will be very hot inside most probably, that's what greenhouses are for :) We shall see how this goes!
