But the Lord said, “Joshua, rise.
Take this land that I swore to give,
Be strong, be brave, and live how I live.”
So he crossed that Jordan with the dawn’s first light,
With twelve stones raised on the river side.

Two spies crept low into Jericho town,
Where Rahab hid them till the danger died down.
She said, “Your God is mighty, I know His name,”
So they tied a red cord when salvation came.
Then the people marched quiet for six long days—
On the seventh, the trumpet set the stones ablaze.

Then the sun stood still on a holy hill,
And the Lord fought the war by His own goodwill.

As for me and my house, the choice is clear—
We’ll serve the Lord while we’re still here.”
