The San Fernando Waterfront Redevelopment Project (SFWRP)
The San Fernando Waterfront Redevelopment Project is an initiative of the Ministry of Planning and Development (MPD) which is being coordinated and managed by the Urban Development Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago (UDeCOTT). The project is proposed to be an attraction for local and international tourist to the southern region of the country and create opportunities for business owners through a number of developmental initiatives such as the Plaza San Carlos Historic District, Transit Hub, King’s Wharf, Yacht Club and the Coastal Boulevard.
As part of the SFWRP, the PURE Unit of the Ministry of Works and Transport is tasked with the widening of Lady Hailes Avenue to a dual carriageway and the extension of Rushworth Street to meet Lady Hailes Avenue. This project will address traffic congestion along Lady Hailes at key intersections and provide safe and efficient access to the upgraded San Fernando Waterfront.
