This clip shows the process of obtaining a representative sample from a compost pile or windrow that has just been turned and thoroughly mixed with a purpose specific windrow turner, consistent with Method A (Method one) in the Australian Standard "AS4454 (2012) Composts, Mulches and Soil Conditioners".
Compost analysis requires a random and representative sample. The detailed procedure is freely downloaded from the Recycled Organics Unit website.
