We spent months researching and prototyping different backcountry waste management solutions until I came up with an innovative toilet mounting system for the bed of a pickup (works great for vans and SUVs too).

For us, dispersed camping often means traveling in ecologically sensitive areas (like beach camping) where a mounted toilet is required. This setup satisfies that requirement without sacrificing convenience or cleanliness. It works just as well outside the vehicle in a toilet tent.

The Joolca GottaGo portable toilet is the most innovative solution I’ve found. It tackles the two biggest challenges:
