Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has met with US President Donald Trump at the White House’s Cabinet Room.
It's the first official in-person meeting between the leaders of Australia and the United States since their respective election wins, which both happened in the past 12 months.
The US and Australian leaders signed a multi-billion-dollar rare earths deal, as the US President gave public endorsement for the AUKUS defence agreement.
The Trump administration’s senior officials including Vice-President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Navy Secretary John Phelan were also present.
Donald Trump also hit out at former prime minister Kevin Rudd over comments he made prior to his tenure as Australian ambassador to the US.
