Current assets are resources a company owns or controls that are expected to be converted into cash within one year.
Because of their liquidity, current assets appear first on a company’s balance sheet. These assets represent the short-term economic resources a company uses to operate its business and meet near-term obligations.
Common examples of current assets include cash and cash equivalents, marketable securities, accounts receivable, and inventory. Understanding current assets is an important step in analyzing a company’s liquidity and financial position.
