An electric crematorium has now been set up in Beldanga, Murshidabad. On Tuesday, Murshidabad District Magistrate Nitin Singhania visited the Kumarpara Electric Crematorium in Beldanga. He was accompanied by Additional District Magistrate (Zilla Parishad) Samsur Rahman and District Project Officer Sukanta Saha.

Also present were Beldanga MLA Hasanuzzaman Sheikh and Beldanga Municipality Chairperson Anuradha Hazra Banerjee, along with other administrative officials and public representatives.

The crematorium will be inaugurated on the 28th by Municipal Affairs and Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim. Ahead of the inauguration, officials reviewed the progress of the facility, which will be operated by the Beldanga Municipality.

According to the Beldanga MLA, residents of the Rejinagar, Naoda, and Beldanga Assembly constituencies had long felt the need for such a facility.

A total of ₹3.69 crore has been allocated for the construction of the electric crematorium. The administration is currently examining various aspects before the formal inauguration and the commencement of services.

It has been learned that a temporary helipad has been set up at the Beldanga CRGS School ground, while the inauguration ceremony will be held at Netaji Park ground. Preparations are in full swing in Beldanga ahead of the minister’s visit.
