Introduction to Xenology
This new course focuses on extraterrestrial civilizations.
What do we already know about them?
What can sciences like astrobiology, sociobiology or anthropology teach us?
We look at how life, biology, technology and societies evolve, and project how this can apply to extraterrestrials.
Then we compare that with what experiencers tell us
The course consists of four parts.
Part 1 deals with evolutionary xenology.
It looks at astrobiology and technological evolution, as well as bio-engineering and participative evolution.
Part 2 deals with socio-political xenology.
We study social systems and extraterrestrial behavior on Earth.
Do they pose a threat?
How can we prepare for a post-disclosure world?
Part 3 deals with cultural xenology.
It studies topics like psychology, law and ethics, science and art, exotheology and extraterrestrial spirituality.
Part 4 looks at xenoarchaeology.
We examine archaeological evidence, both on Earth and off-planet.
Note that this course is only open to students who have successfully completed Exo101.
