What is a Mothership Jacket and Why Do You NEED One?

Описание: In this video I discuss "mothership jackets" - large, roomy jackets that can be worn over multiple layers of clothing for cold weather activities like winter camping and hiking.

In particular, I show two jackets I use for this purpose:

1/ a Swedish M90 jacket that is long and provides good coverage, that I particularly like in combination with my boreal winter smock on toboggan and hot-tenting trips.

2/ a lightweight Rab down jacket, with a Pertex Endurance outer and hydrophobic down fill, that is well suited for winter activities like ski touring where weight is more critical.

Both jackets are designed (and sized) to be worn over multiple base and insulating layers to provide warmth and versatility in cold conditions.
