After much research it seems that everything tried will always result in a rusty stock tank. Galvanized steel and chlorine do not play nicely.
Techniques people try: Marine paint, Epoxy shield, truck bed liner,
Pond paint, Do nothing. All seem to rust or peel.
Only one thing seems to work. Use a liner. Liners to fit a stock tank pool are problematic. Either out of stock or expensive. One solution is using a cheap round Walmart/Amazon pool.
Downside being only a wrinkled look on the side of the pool.
Buy a cheap 10ft round pool from Amazon. They vary from $50 and up. They are on sale often.
Do NOT buy the 8ft pool, the liner top will be too small!
