January 2026 Sky Update Quadrantids Under Moonlight and a New 3I ATLAS Image
January’s night sky tells two very different stories.
The Quadrantid meteor shower is usually one of the strongest of the year, but in 2026 it peaks under a full Moon. That moonlight will wash out most faint meteors, leaving only the occasional bright fireball for patient observers.
At the same time, a new image of interstellar object 3I/ATLAS shows subtle but meaningful changes. The inner coma appears brighter than in previous observations, the outer green coma has weakened, and the long antitail remains clearly visible and stable in direction.
This video breaks down what you can realistically expect from the Quadrantids this year, and why 3I/ATLAS continues to be worth watching as new data comes in.
No hype. Just the sky as it actually looks right now.
