Roof box range test with OVMS + ABRP

Описание: We had ourselves a little trip to Hertfordshire, UK for a week and I thought it'd be a perfect opportunity to test the efficiency with the roof box. Again.

If that wasn't enough, I got my OVMS box – the little thing that plugs into the e-Niro to tell state of charge etc – linked up with A Better Route Planner (ABRP). This gives ABRP the ability to know exactly what the current efficiency is and update the plan accordingly (“Live data”).

I'll use this far more in the future – we weren't travelling far enough to really test it properly – but it works really well and certainly gives a sort of comfort blanket to long distance travel in an EV.

On our Italian road trip we had to do it manually. Flaviana would press the "EV" button on the e-Niro (the only way of finding out the battery percentage in the First Edition e-Niro) and I'd then have to enter that into ABRP. This is such an improvement.

A video will follow shortly about getting OVMS talking to ABRP as it's a bit fiddly, but certainly worth it. I'd argue it's the killer feature for OVMS.

Anyway, this video is about that and the inane ramblings of an EV-obsessed husband and the wife that goes out of her way to antagonise him.
