The self-titled album by the Italian band Spettri, originally recorded in 1972 and only released in 2011, is considered one of the great "lost treasures" of Italian progressive rock (RPI).
Recorded in a single session in Milan on October 13, 1972, the album was never released at the time due to the band's difficulties in securing a contract. The tapes were rescued and remastered by the Black Widow Records label almost 40 years later.
It is a concept album that narrates a man's search for his "inner self" through a séance, also serving as an allegory for the hypocrisy of modern society. Musically, it mixes heavy prog with influences from bands like Deep Purple and Black Sabbath, standing out for its aggressive use of the Hammond organ and distorted guitars.
Album Structure (Suite)
The album functions as a large piece divided into movements:
Introduzione
Parte Prima: Stare Solo
Parte Seconda: Medium
Parte Terza: Essere
Parte Quarta: Incubo
The success of the late release motivated the reunion of the original band (led by brothers Ugo and Raffaele Ponticiello), who released a new album in 2015, titled 2973 La Nemica Dei Ricordi.
Ugo Ponticiello / vocals
Rafaelle Ponticiello / electric and acoustic guitars
Vincenzo Ponticiello / bass
Stefano Melani / Hammond organ
Giorgio Di Ruvo / drums
