Once, Peshawar's Bazaar-e-Misgran a bustling, gleaming haven of brass and copper, echoed with the lively hum of artisans and the cheerful exchanges of visitors. Khwaja Akhtar Ali, affectionately known as "Poor Honest Ali," was among the celebrated craftsmen here, welcoming droves of tourists who sought the intricate brass treasures that embodied Peshawar’s rich heritage.
Today, this street is a shadow of its former self. Due to socio-economic shifts and esclating costs the demand has dropped, and the tourist crowds have dwindled. As a mainly tourism-driven industry, Bazaar-e-Misgran depended on international visitors. Tourism faded after 9/11, taking with it not just business but the spirit of an age old tradition. We hope that soon the hum of foreign voices and local craft will blend once again in this heart of old Peshawar
