The Spirit of the Desert - Visiting the Imperial Valley Desert Museum

Описание: The Imperial Valley Desert Museum and Visitor Center is located in the town of Ocotillo, California. The town is sparsely populated and has nearly as many abandoned buildings as occupied ones, but the Imperial Valley Desert Museum is a somewhat hidden gem along Interstate 8. The museum is packed with information and does a great job telling the story of the area's Native American population, the geology, Lake Cahuilla (a lake that once covered the Imperial Valley but dried up 500 years ago), and the local wildlife. The. museum also features an interpretive walk that lets you get right up close and personal with what is probably their most well known feature, the giant Spirit of the Desert statue that is visible from the Interstate.
