Robert Trend Jones' first course in Europe and by his own words one of his masterpieces - is located in the south of Spain right in the village of Sotogrande and just a long-iron away from the sea. Originally opened in 1964, it has gone through a massive renovation in 2016 restoring a lot of the original layout and greens to the original size (some of them have therefore been incrased by as much as 45%). The course design follows RTJ's philosophy of "easy bogey, difficult par" and is really enjoyable for players of all skills, I think. Well, I did play the white tees from back positions, so it wasn't exactly an easy round :-)

Also, the course is well known for a lot of professional tournaments like the Open de Espana, and for hosting the European Tour School Qualifiers (people who earned their card here were Ian Poulter, Justin Rose, Nicholas Colsaerts) and some really important amateur events (Sherry Cup, nowadays the Sotogrande Cup). Quite some famous players have won here as amateurs, e.g. Sergio Garcia, Padraigh Harrington, Rory McIlroy and Carlota Ciganda, just to name a few.
