In this episode we take a look at a Hindu panchang and observe how the various calendar elements we have discussed do far are represented in the pachang.
I use drikpanchang Anroid app to illustrate a panchang. This app is available on iPhone too. It is also available on the internet as drikpanchang.com.
Each page in drikpanchang depicts a month from the Christian calendar and superimposes the Hindu calendar elements on each date on the Christian calendar. The end of a tithi (and the start of the next tithi) is specified using a 24 Hour+ format (where 24 is midnight and number higher than that are interpreted as the time after midnight, i.e. 26:10 would be 2:10 AM on the next day).
Drikpanchang also gives a pictorial representation of the time between two sunrises. This representation in more intuitive when it comes to depicting the cutover from one tithi to the next. This representation is also very intuitive when it comes to representing a kshaya tithi.
