Built in the 13th century by the Dukes "vom Stein", the Castle was later conquered by the great Knight Reuss, who gave the Castle the name. In 1411 Earl Johann von Helfenstein bought the Castle Reußenstein. It has been a ruin since second half of 16th century.
The Reußenstein ruins stand boldly on the towering cliff on the northern edge of the Swabian Alb - 5 km northwest of Wiesensteig. It is one of the most beautiful castle ruins in the Swabian Alb with a wonderful view of the Neidlinger Valley.
