Описание: Watch the post-match review of Match 54 of IPL 2025 between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) from Dharamsala. Punjab Kings secured a comfortable 37-run victory over Lucknow Super Giants.
After Rishabh Pant won the toss and chose to bowl first, PBKS posted a daunting total of 236/5 in their 20 overs. Prabhsimran Singh played an explosive innings, scoring 91 runs. He was awarded Player of the Match for his performance. Prabhsimran felt he needed to convert his start into something big after getting set.
A key tactical move was Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer's decision to promote Josh Inglis to number 3. Head coach Ricky Ponting hailed this as a tactical call by the captain, noting it was the right move if an early wicket fell and that Mayank Yadav's short bowling suited Inglis. Inglis struck an aggressive 30 off just 14 balls, including three sixes and a four off Mayank Yadav, forming a brisk 48-run partnership with Prabhsimran. The promotion of Inglis seemed smart and helped steady the innings after opener Priyansh Arya fell early. Shreyas Iyer himself contributed 45 runs, while Shashank Singh played a valuable cameo of 33 not out. Ponting praised the team's deep batting lineup, which allows the top order to play with freedom.
Chasing 237, Lucknow Super Giants' top order struggled. Arshdeep Singh delivered a match-winning spell in the powerplay, taking three crucial wickets. He dismissed Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, and Nicholas Pooran early on, reducing LSG to 27/3. Arshdeep finished with figures of 3/16 or 3/21, effectively sealing the deal for PBKS in the powerplay.
Despite the early setbacks, Ayush Badoni (74 off 40) and Abdul Samad (45 off 24) stitched a fighting 81-run partnership, playing some excellent shots and saving LSG from a potential collapse. However, the target of 236 proved too far, and LSG finished on 199/7. LSG captain Rishabh Pant acknowledged that dropping crucial catches and not picking the length right hurt them badly.
This win propelled Punjab Kings to second place in the IPL 2025 table, improving their poor record at the Dharamsala venue. LSG, now seventh, need to win all their remaining matches to stay in playoff contention.
