Описание: Waterblommetjie bredie translates from Afrikaans to Waterflower stew. It is indigenous to the West coast and Boland region of the Cape province of South Africa and, to my knowledge not found anywhere else in the world. There is no substitute I have ever tasted and I have travelled extensively. When visiting the Cape this is a must. It grows in winter but you will find it at local restaurants any time of year since it freezes perfectly. There are many variations of the recipe but three key ingredients are a definite: 1. Lamb or mutton, 2. Waterblommetjies and either 3. “suurings”, vinegar or lemon juice to give it the distinctive but mild sour taste. I have been cooking this dish for over 20 years, give it a go. Serve this delicacy on normal long grain white rice.
