The lawyer representing Allahbadia, Abhinav Chandrachud, a Bombay High Court lawyer and son of former CJI DY Chandrachud, caught attention as he appeared in the Supreme Court for the first time in over eight years.

Who is Abhinav Chandrachud? Despite his father’s position, Abhinav had not appeared in the Supreme Court during his father’s tenure. Former CJI DY Chandrachud shared that both Abhinav and his brother declined Supreme Court appearances out of integrity. Abhinav holds a Doctor of the Science of Law (JSD) and a Master of the Science of Law (JSM) from Stanford Law School. He graduated from Government Law College, Mumbai, in 2008, and later earned his LLM from Harvard. Abhinav worked at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, an international law firm, and is the author of Republic of Rhetoric (2017) and Supreme Whispers (2018). His opinion pieces have been published in leading Indian newspapers.
