As Impact Church Scottsdale sees record growth, Easter service is moving to Sloan Park in Mesa.

Pastor Travis Hearn's Impact Church in Scottsdale is bursting at the seams.

Diving deeper into this unique story of growth,
ABC15s Kaley O'Kelley set out to learn more.

"Church should be fun. Jesus is alive, he's not still in the grave.
So, church, in my opinion, should not feel like a funeral service. It should feel like a party."

To accommodate the holiday crowd Pastor Travis tells O'Kelley
Easter Sunday service this year will happen at Sloan Park in Mesa, where the Chicago Cubs host Spring Training.
For Easter last year he preached nine times.
"That's why we're doing it at the stadium."

Those who go, will enjoy carnival rides, games and a chance to win some really impressive prizes including a 2024 Toyota Corolla donated by a member of the church.
Pastor Travis says,
"I'm actually excited to see how God does that. I'd love to see it go to a family that needs a car."

Founded by former Arizona Cardinal, Andre Wadsworth, Impact Church started as a small bible study for professional athletes in the early 2000's.
"We had Cardinals and Suns players, and you know, Diamondbacks, and anybody who's a pro."

Now, Pastor Travis says attendance numbers continue to skyrocket at Impact Church where nearly 7-thousand people show up every Sunday to hear the word of God.

"If you're struggling with your marriage, I got the answer.
If you're struggling with addiction, I've got the answer. If you're struggling with depression, I've got the answer."

He also says, "Life's tough and so I like to have fun.
Our music is bumping and banging, but it's just fun!"

Perhaps it's a search for life direction that keeps so many believers coming back to this place of worship.
"You matter, and you were created on purpose, for a purpose.
And I think everybody needs to understand that because when you really understand that life starts to make sense!
The congregation at Impact is diverse and Pastor Travis says,
everyone is welcome, and with open arms.


The Bible brings us together, we all know that's the goal.
I'm not the goal. Impact church is not the goal.
Jesus set the goal and he loved, period, end of story.


In addition to his time leading impact church, Pastor Travis Hearn is also chaplain for the Phoenix Suns. "For the guys who want to go. We take church to them, and it's one hour before every game...
one hour before tipoff, and it's 15 minutes long." He has worked with the Kansas City Royals, and the Oakland Athletics doing the same kind of work.
