Whether certain communities are deliberately excluded from this cycle or simply victims of unquestioned habitual colonialism, either way the sum total of human knowledge is lesser. Dr. Belhabib makes a illustrates her point with vital Malaria research, and parallels abound. She sets an example in her own work, by choosing equatorial climate science researchers for the upcoming Shackleton2022 expedition. Principal Investigator for EcoTrust Canada, Dr. Belhabib works to track and report illegal fishing and other forms of crimes committed by and onboard fishing vessels at sea, affect ecosystems, people, and their communities. Fishing crimes jeopardize livelihoods and food security of millions of people around the globe. Spyglass is a cooperative platform that publishes information from the Criminal Record of Fishing Vessels © 2018 Dyhia Belhabib, and allows users to have access to the criminal history of individual large-scale fishing vessels and their companies, and small-scale fishing vessels, in support of local governments, Monitoring, Control, and Surveillance agencies, fishing communities, and the public.
