The Indian Clearing Corporation Ltd known as ICCL was established in 2007 as a wholly owned subsidiary of BSE while the National Securities Clearing Corporation Ltd known as NSCCL was established in 1995 as a subsidiary of NSE. They are responsible for clearing and settlement of all trades executed on BSE and NSE along with deposit, collateral, and risk management functions.

Let’s understand in detail the functionalities and operations of ICCL and NSCCL in detail.

Clearing house operates in a well-defined settlement cycle and there are no deviations from this cycle. They aggregate trades over a trading period, net the positions to determine the liabilities of members, and ensure the movement of funds and securities to meet respective liabilities.

NSCCL has impanelled 13 clearing banks and ICCL with 20 clearing banks to provide banking services to trading members and has established connectivity with both depositories for the electronic settlement of securities.

ICCL also clears and settles trades executed on all the other segments of BSE, including Equity Cash, Equity Derivatives, BSE SME, Offer for Sale, Securities Lending and borrowing, Debt Segment, Interest Rate Futures and the Currency Derivatives Segment. ICCL is the only clearing corporation in India to have been granted an "AAA" rating by two rating agencies, that is, India Ratings Ltd and Care Ratings Ltd.

To add safety and cushion to its investors, ICCL has further subscribed to a unique Insurance policy for INR 375 Crore to protect them against counterparty defaults making them even safer.
