The Ingenieur Automatic 42 is the first full ceramic IWC watch with case proportions that remain absolutely faithful to the original stainless-steel model. To make this possible, IWC engineers developed an innovative, multi-part case construction without a container, with the case ring, bezel, and case back ring all made of ceramic. This outstanding design and engineering achievement honors the pioneering nature of Gérald Genta’s 1976 Ingenieur SL.
The new Ingenieur Automatic 42 represents an outstanding achievement by IWC engineers. Constructed without a container, the multi-part case is composed of a case ring, bezel, and case back ring all made of ceramic.
The components are finished with a combination of satin-finishing, sandblasting, and polishing. Achieved with diamond tooling, this complex treatment results in a perfect balance of matte and polished surfaces.
