The Blackfriary Community Heritage and Archaeology Project celebrates 10 years of excavations this year. This heritage week 2020 event will provide a virtual tour of the archaeology site and the finds which will be delivered through 8 informative videos. The first 4 will give a virtual tour of the remains of the Medieval buildings and gardens while the remaining 4 will discuss the artifacts, architectural finds and the burials excavated to date.
Blackfriary Archaeology Field School will post one episode on their website and social media channels each day during National Heritage Week 2020.
The Blackfriary excavations were begun with the aim of exploring the role of the Dominican friary in the medieval period in Trim. As the friary was quarried out in the 18th century we are following the footprint and remains of the monastic buildings as well as the friary graveyard and gardens.
