Reading & Northern 425 & 2102 | An Autumn Weekend of Steam

Описание: On the weekend of November 5-6, 2022, the Reading & Northern Railroad hosted the last of their steam-powered Fall Foliage Excursions for the year. On Saturday, 4-6-2 no. 425 ran the famed route from Reading to Jim Thorpe, while Sunday saw newly-restored 4-8-4 no. 2102 doing the honors. This was a significant weekend for both locomotives. It was 425's final long-distance excursion before her 15-year boiler inspection and overhaul, and also 2102's last excursion of her first year back in steam after a lengthy restoration. The two steamers put on a spectacular show, with lots of whistle, billowing plumes of coal smoke, and eardrum-splitting exhaust. On both days, the locomotives were taken off the train at Port Clinton on the return trip, while diesels took the train the last remaining miles back to Reading.
