Remember the special hand clap that we've done since Episode 1, and made things appear and disappear? Well, that was your first rhythm lesson and now we get to see what it looks like on paper! Plus we learn a new rudiment, the Double Stroke Roll. As a teenager, I frequented the oldest single-owner drum shop in the US, Fred Pierce's Studio Drum Shop. Around age 15, I knew all the 26 Standard American Drum Rudiments and some others not not on the list. Frustrated one day of having to keep up with all these rudiments, Fred Pierce gave me some of the most profound pieces of advice: "Adam, it all boils down to 3 rudiments: Singles, Doubles, and the Flam. Anything outside of that is a combination of any of those." Made total sense to me, and the "stress" was greatly reduced.
