Vaganova vs. Cecchetti/English Method – What’s the Difference?

Have you ever wondered what method of ballet you’re actually training in? 🤔 You might be more Vaganova or Cechettii or something else! — or maybe you’ve never even thought about it!

In this video, Suvi and I (Isabella) dive into the fascinating differences between the Vaganova method and the Cecchetti/ English method. As someone who trained at both the Royal Ballet School and the Vaganova Academy, I had to make some serious adjustments — from technique and coordination to musicality and even how we name certain steps.

These are just a few of the most noticeable contrasts we experienced, but of course, there’s a whole world of nuance, especially when it comes to artistry, philosophy, and training style.
