Brexit update webinar with the Irish Exporters Association, June 24th, 2020.

Описание: Brexit means change. From the 1 January 2021, the requirements for trading food with Great Britain will be different. Irish food businesses that currently sell food products to Great Britain and place it on the UK market will become exporters.

The Irish Exporters Association held a webinar on June 24th 2020, featuring our Head of Brexit and International Trade, Louise Byrne.

In this recording, Louise began by outlining the current position in the EU-UK future relationship negotiations, covering topics such as rules of origin, market access and the potential imposition of tariff rates on agri-food products from January 1, 2021.

She gave a brief overview of the Department's Brexit preparations regarding staff, IT systems and the continued investment in physical infrastructure at Dublin and Rosslare ports.

Louise shared insights into research she conducted of 2019 trade data based on ferry company manifests. Included in this was an analysis of the various categories of consignments that would be of interest to the Department's staff at the Border Control Post (BCP) and the freight patterns and timings of ferry arrivals.

She also detailed the import certification process as well as the export certification process for companies that wish to continue to trade with Great Britain. Louise stressed the importance of Irish exporters to fully familiarise themselves with the UK post-transition period import process.

At the end of the webinar there was a short Q&A session where Louise had an opportunity to answer questions from attendees.
