Nearly 200 children have reportedly been killed across the region, with the highest toll in Iran at around 181. This includes a tragic strike on Shajareh Tayyebeh girls' elementary school in Minab, southern Iran, on February 28, 2026, where approximately 168 girls (aged 7-12) and others perished during classes—described as one of the deadliest civilian incidents. Additional deaths: 7 in Lebanon, 3 in Israel, and 1 in Kuwait. UNICEF urges immediate cessation of hostilities, protection of civilians (especially schools), and de-escalation, emphasizing that children bear an unacceptable price in wars they do not start. The agency calls for investigations into attacks on civilian infrastructure amid ongoing hostilities.
