Mir Cemil's Bestenigar Peşrev is a composition of Turkish classical music. The term "beste-nigâr" refers to a type of composition in which the melody is created by the composer and the lyrics are added later.
Mir Cemil, also known as Zaharya Efendi Mir Cemil or Kürkçü, was a composer, singer, and musician of Turkish classical music. He was of Greek origin and served as the head cantor at the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate in Fener . He is said to have sung with the patronage of Ahmet III (1703-1730) and Mahmut I (1730-1754). He is also known by the nickname Kürkçü (Furrier), and it is assumed that he was a fur merchant. He passed away in 1750.
