History of Masjid-e-Aqsa

Masjid-e-Aqsa is one of the oldest and most sacred mosques in the world. It is located in Jerusalem and holds great importance in Islam. It is the third holiest site in Islam, after Masjid-e-Haram in Makkah and Masjid-e-Nabawi in Madinah.
Masjid-e-Aqsa is especially important because it was the first Qiblah (direction of prayer) for Muslims. It is also connected to the miraculous journey of Isra wal Miraj, when Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) traveled from Makkah to Masjid-e-Aqsa and then ascended to the heavens.

Who Built Masjid-e-Aqsa

The original foundation of Masjid-e-Aqsa was laid by Prophet Adam (peace be upon him) according to Islamic tradition. Later, it was rebuilt and expanded by Prophet Sulaiman (Solomon), peace be upon him.
After the Muslim conquest of Jerusalem, Caliph Umar ibn al-Khattab (RA) renovated the mosque. Over the centuries, many Muslim rulers contributed to its restoration and expansion.
