Here's my much better edited 84 visual back to Leicester from Lutterworth, and when I say better edited...
Well, as you know, originally I added the first clip (looping around the houses) to the outbound even though that technically marks the start of the inbound as I was struggling with getting songs to fix. The outbound is still on my re-film list as when I did it last month, I got 4512 which seems to have worsened since I did it on that 85 one, and I kept moving the camera up thinking it was too low.
Despite being an MMC route, I got a B9TL for this visual, At the time, the 84 and 85 were getting at least 3 Volvo B9TLs each day because the 31s needed some of the E400s. Today they're a common occurrence across the 44, 44A, 49, 50, 51, 84 and 85. The old Sapphires have returned to the 31 and 31A and spare E400 MMCs now go on the X3. Also, the 86 and 87 are now single-decker routes again, tending to use Solos and Streetlites.
Experiences: Despite being sister service to my local, my first time on this route was only in 2010 from Leicester to Whetstone, and then I didn't use it again for 6 years. I now use it more regularly from Blaby to Whetstone (I'm lazy like that, it's a gap of 3 stops). If cars displayed final destinations, the last few times I've been to Lutterworth before hand would just be London, if not that, New York and before that, Johannesburg. The only memory of Broughton Astley I have is the park which the X84 goes past and if not that, Cosby has only ever been for getting to the A5 in recent years.
How I felt: Despite what I mentioned above, I wasn't worried at all, even being the 3rd route checked off my list (would have been 4th had that first outbound 50 gone ahead) while the 85 was one of the last. Also, I found the views from Dunton Bassett to be quite remarkable (as in, I thought I could see East Midlands Airport. Also, at the time, this route had the closest to going under a tunnel (the M1 bridge splitting Whetstone and Cosby, obviously, now there's the 29 that goes under one at junction 22) and it was pretty cool running parallel with the motorway along the A426.
Songs used:
Since it was the Eurovision final over the weekend, this has influenced my song choices:
First up is probably the most famous Eurovision song in history: Sunstroke Project & Olia Tira - Run Away. This was Moldova's entry back in 2010 and the guy playing the saxophone became a very popular meme, known as the Epic Sax Guy.
Next up are my 2 favourite entries from this year's contest:
ZENA - Like It (Belarus)
Chingiz - Truth (Azerbaijan)
And of course, we came last. Oh well. I felt as soon as they were performed that one of these should have won and I am a bit gutted that they didn't, it would have been incredible if the top one did because ZENA is only 16.
Повторяем попытку...
